DiscountCode.AI vs Honey —
how they compare
Honey autofills codes at checkout. DiscountCode.AI tests every code at the real checkout on your specific product — with proof.
Try it nowThe short version
Honey is a browser extension that autofills discount codes at checkout. DiscountCode.AI is a website that tests every code at the real checkout on your specific product, then shows you which ones actually work — with proof.
You don't need to install anything to use DiscountCode.AI. Paste a link, wait about four minutes, get a ranked list of codes that save you money.
What Honey does
Honey is a free browser extension owned by PayPal. When you're on a checkout page, it tries a list of discount codes automatically and applies whichever one it finds works. It also runs a rewards programme called Honey Gold.
In late 2024, a widely-reported investigation raised significant concerns about how Honey operates, including allegations around affiliate cookie handling and code selection. Class-action lawsuits followed. Honey and PayPal have contested the framing.
We're not here to relitigate that. But it's the reason a lot of people are looking for alternatives, and it's why we think a comparison is worth writing.
What DiscountCode.AI does
You paste the link to what you're buying. We open a real browser, add your product to the basket, and try every available discount code at the actual checkout — one at a time. When something works, we take a screenshot as proof.
You then see a ranked list: which codes worked, how much each one saves you on your product, and the receipts. You copy the code, go to the store, apply it yourself.

Why we built it differently
Most discount code sites — including ones that don't run a browser extension — just list codes scraped from other sites. They don't know if the codes work. You paste one in, it fails, you try the next one, and eventually you give up.
We built DiscountCode.AI because that's a rubbish experience. Testing every code by hand is exactly the kind of tedious task that a computer should do for you. So we made a computer do it, and we show you the results honestly — including when nothing works.
The trade-off is that we're slower than a browser extension. Four minutes instead of instant. In return you get proof, no install, and a site that doesn't sit in the middle of your payment.
What we don't do
- We're not a browser extension.
- We don't track you across the web.
- We don't run an affiliate rewrite on your clicks. When we send you to a store, we use a standard affiliate link (this is how we keep the lights on) — we don't intercept whatever attribution was already there.
- We don't have a rewards points system.
- We don't work on Amazon, because Amazon's checkout blocks automated testing. Honey's the same on this.
